A delegation from Panasonic's Corporate Venture Capital Office and Gobi Partners visited Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) on 9 February. They were warmly received by Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, along with representatives from the University's life science research teams and creative art technology facilities. The visit focused on HKBU's pioneering research in precision medicine within the biotechnology field, as well as its creative art technology projects, with discussions held on potential industrial applications.
The delegation was led by Mr Kunio Gohara, General Manager of the Corporate Venture Capital Office at Panasonic, and Mr Fred Li, Managing Director and Head of University Ventures at Gobi Partners. During the meeting, the HKBU team showcased its projects - the Automated Multiplex Diagnostics System and Advanced Point-of-care Molecular Systems funded by the Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One-plus (RAISe+) Scheme. The research team explained how these innovative technologies facilitate early disease diagnosis through rapid, fully automated multiplex testing solutions, underscoring HKBU's research capabilities in addressing global health challenges.
Additionally, the delegation toured HKBU's Visualization Research Centre where they experienced the immersive ‘360-degree LED Visualization Cinema,’ gaining first-hand appreciation of the innovative interactive technologies on display and deepening their understanding of HKBU's advances in AI-enhanced applications and technological innovation.
