On 30 March, HKBU Interim Chief Innovation Officer Prof. Terence Lau received Mr Tom Heilandt, Secretary of Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) at the University campus. Mr Heilandt visited the University’s Visualisation Research Centre, Dr & Mrs Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine and Chinese Medicine Clinics of School of Chinese Medicine. They discussed about food safety and quality advancement, and explored how transdisciplinary collaborations such as with Chinese medicine, cutting-edge visualisation and immersive technologies could promote the advancement and awareness of food safety.
Established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), CAC is an international organization which aims to protect the health of consumers, facilitate international trade, and ensure fair practices in the international food trade.
