Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), led a delegation to the Guangzhou headquarters of Infinitus (China) Company Limited (Infinitus) on 17 September. This visit served to further solidify the strategic collaboration between the two parties, building upon the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2024.
The HKBU delegation comprised Professor Hui-yee Kwan , Professor Wai-po Chong and Dr Zhu Zhang from the School of Chinese Medicine; Dr Qin Liu from the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development Limited; Dr Yue Luo and Dr Esther Yan Qin Tan from Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University; Dr Ken Yeung, Director of Technology Translation, and Mr Raymond Chan, Assistant Director (Entrepreneurship), of the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research. They were warmly welcomed by Dr Frank Ma, Vice President and Chief Science Innovation Officer of Infinitus.
Infinitus organised a visit for the delegation to introduce their Global Research Platforms and Customer Experience Centre, followed by a technology exchange meeting.
During the discussion, both parties delved into their research and development priorities. The delegation was impressed by innovative strengths of Infinitus in health technology and its global wellness vision. The HKBU representatives also shared pioneering projects in the “Food as Medicine” domain, underscoring the university’s commitment to integrating Chinese medicine into this field. In addition, Dr Yeung introduced the translational research of the Wu Jieh Yee Institute of Translational Chinese Medicine Research—a platform dedicated to the development of health products and functional foods—to Infinitus.
This visit focused on exploring collaborative opportunities in the field of “Food as Medicine”, paving the way for future initiatives that benefit society. By leveraging HKBU’s leading position in Chinese medicine research and combining industry resources of Infinitus, this academic-industry collaboration aims to address health challenges and drive advancements in the health industry.
