IIT organises seminar to accelerate innovation-to-impact across the Greater Bay Area

GBA Legal Convergence and Cooperation Summit and Empowering Innovation Seminar took place on 28 February. More than 150 participants took part in the event.

GBA Legal Convergence and Cooperation Summit and Empowering Innovation Seminar was co-organised by Greater Bay Area Youth Entrepreneurs Association and Institute for Innovation and Translation of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), sponsored by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, and took place in Scholars Court, 2/F, David C. Lam Building, Shaw Campus, Hong Kong Baptist University.

In the Empowering Innovation Seminar, Mr. Raymond Chan, Assistant Director (Entrepreneurship), Institute for Innovation and Translation of HKBU delivered a keynote speech on the topic of Empowering Innovation in the GBA, suggested that the academia could collaborate with the creative industries and facilitate the transfer of academic output with the help of artificial intelligence, and raised an example of scholars working closely with AI training partners to produce short films, TV dramas and films with strong ratings.

In GBA Legal Convergence and Cooperation Summit and Empowering Innovation Seminar, Mr Ian Grenville Cross, GBS, QC, former Director of Public Prosecutions; Mr Charles Chan, Barrister; Mr Cui Changfeng, Partner of ZLC Law Office; and Mr Kenneth Wan, Solicitor, gave keynote speeches around the topic of 'From the Greater Bay Area to the World: Practice of International Arbitration', followed by a fruitful discussion session and presentations by participants and leaders.

The closing ceremony, under the theme of 'Rule of Law in the Greater Bay Area: Safeguarded by Arbitration', was joined by guests of honour including Mr Ho Kai Ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China; Ms Iris Wong, Hong Kong delegate to the National People's Congress; Dr Liu Hon Fai, BBS, JP, Chairperson of Shun Tak Fraternal Association; Mr Wesley Wan, MH, Honourary Life President of Hong Kong, China Automobile Association; Mr Patrick Chan, Second Vice District Governor, Lions Club International District 303 Hong Kong & Macao, China. Ms Sophia Lam, Founding President of Greater Bay Area Youth Entrepreneurs Association, delivered a welcoming speech, followed by a speech by Mr Ho Kai Ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare. Certificates were presented to keynote speakers. The event came to an end with a speech of thanks by Architect Mr Chester Chu, Executive Vice President of Greater Bay Area Youth Entrepreneurs Association.
