HKBU showcases Hong Kong's innovation and technology opportunities to Korean ventures

27 Mar 2026

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) recently participated in a seminar themed “Navigating the Future and Opportunities of Innovation and Technology in Hong Kong and Beyond”, organised by Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) and the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea, and supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, in Seoul, Korea. During the event, HKBU representatives engaged with about 80 Korean tech ventures and conglomerates to showcase Hong Kong’s latest advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics.

The session featured a keynote speech by Mr Andy Wong, Head of Innovation & Technology and Life & Health Sciences at InvestHK. Following the keynote, Mr Raymond Chan, Assistant Director of HKBU’s Institute for Innovation and Translation, unveiled the HK I&T ecosystem from the perspective of R&D collaboration, detailing significant Government support and partnership schemes.

The seminar underscored Hong Kong’s compelling innovation ecosystem, characterised by strong policy support, cutting-edge R&D infrastructure, top-tier talent, and robust access to capital. Crucially, this is all leveraged by Hong Kong’s strategic proximity to the Chinese Mainland, which provides a comprehensive supply chain advantage within the Greater Bay Area.

As a key driver of innovation in Hong Kong, HKBU serves as an ideal gateway for international ventures to access the region's R&D ecosystem. IIT looks forward to engaging with businesses from all sectors to build strong partnerships and jointly unlock these strategic advantages.
