13 June 2026

With the long-standing commitment to advancing Food Tech development, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Food Safety Consortium (FSC), the knowledge transfer vehicle of HKBU, has  participated in the Asia Food Safety Forum 2026 organised by UNIDO in Bangkok between 11-12 June. Themed “Digitalisation, Innovation and Circularity in Food Safety,” the forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation, identify needs and technology transfer opportunities in addressing emerging food safety challenges.

Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU and Chairman of FSC, was invited to moderate the discussion titled “Navigating the Regulatory Landscape — Approaches to Recycled Food Contact Materials Across Asia.” This session brought together regulatory and industry experts to discuss emerging regulatory trends on food innovation and circularity, as well as regulatory changes related to recycled food contact materials. By sharing best practices, the panel aimed to advance regulatory convergence for recycled food contact materials.

To address rising challenges in food safety and broader food security across Asia-Pacific and beyond, HKBU and FSC remain dedicated to spurring innovation, fostering international collaboration, and driving knowledge transfer.
